About
Taylor Bay Campground is a primitive self-service campground located within Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, accessible via Forest Service Road 136 off the Trace. The campground sits on the shores of Kentucky Lake and offers approximately 25 campsites divided between two distinct sections. The right section features shaded sites nestled among mixed hardwood trees climbing the hillside, while the left section offers more open sites along the shoreline with scenic views of Taylor Bay. As a self-service campground, Taylor Bay operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Campers select their site, complete a fee envelope, and deposit payment in the Iron Ranger fee tube at the entrance. The campground provides basic amenities including designated campsite pads, picnic tables, grills, fire rings, vault toilets, trash pickup, and a boat ramp for lake access. This is a primitive camping experience with no potable water, electricity, or hookups available. Campers should bring adequate water supplies and be prepared for self-sufficient camping. The location provides excellent access to Kentucky Lake for fishing and boating, with the peaceful setting appealing to those seeking a quiet, natural experience away from developed campgrounds.
