Elevated conditions for wildfires are expected this afternoon, mainly between 12 PM and 7 PM CDT. Relative humidity values will fall to 25 to 35% this afternoon, and winds will be breezy from the south, sustained at 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 25 to 30 mph forecast. Vegetation is dry due to ongoing moderate to severe drought conditions over much of the region. Outdoor burning and activities that involve open sparks or flames are discouraged. Please report all wildfires to local law enforcement as soon as possible.

Taylor Bay Campground is a small, self-service facility located along Kentucky Lake within Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. This basic campground provides a quiet, off-the-beaten-path camping experience with beautiful lake views and access to outdoor recreation. The campground features designated campsite pads, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, along with vault toilets and trash service. A boat ramp provides direct access to Kentucky Lake for fishing and boating enthusiasts. As a self-service campground, Taylor Bay operates on a simple fee system with no on-site staff. Campers pay using the self-service fee tube or can purchase permits online. The campground offers no water or utilities, so visitors must bring adequate drinking water and be self-sufficient. The remote location and minimal development make it ideal for campers seeking a more primitive experience while still having access to basic amenities. The campground is also part of the seasonal camping program, with some sites available for extended stays.
