Lake Barkley State Resort Park
Closed for the season. Reopens April 1, 2026 and operates through October 31. Reservations accepted up to 12 months in advance via Kentucky State Parks reservation system.
Special Weather Statement issued May 2 at 11:48AM CDT by NWS Paducah KY
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast through this afternoon, mainly near and east of the Mississippi River. Due to very cold temperatures just off the ground, some of the showers or thunderstorms could produce small hail and cold air funnel clouds. Cold air funnels are due to very cool air aloft...warm moist air near the ground...and are usually in association with a strong area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Due to little or no wind shear...they are usually very brief and rarely reach the ground. If the funnels do reach the ground, minor wind damage is possible.
About
Lake Barkley State Resort Park campground sits on the eastern shore of 58,000-acre Lake Barkley in Trigg County, Kentucky. The facility offers 79 campsites arranged in a single loop, with 73 sites featuring electric hookups and 6 non-electric sites. All sites are back-in only with blacktopped surfaces and accommodate up to 8 people. Driveway lengths range from 32 to 58 feet, making the campground suitable for various RV sizes. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides two central service buildings with flush toilets and hot showers, a dump station, laundry facilities, and a playground. Water hookups are available at most sites, though a few sites have limited utilities. Sites are relatively close together in a developed state park setting. Golf carts are permitted with a paid permit. Beyond camping, the resort park offers extensive recreational opportunities including boat ramps, a marina, tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, indoor fitness center, swimming beach, and miles of hiking trails. The lodge and restaurant provide dining options. The park is adjacent to the 186,000-acre Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area and is just minutes from the historic town of Cadiz. Reservations are strongly recommended during the peak season and can be made up to 12 months in advance through the Kentucky State Parks reservation system.
