About

Smith Bay Campground is a rustic, self-service campground situated on the shores of Kentucky Lake in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Lyon County, Kentucky. This small campground is accessed via the Woodlands Scenic Trace (Forest Service Road 100) and offers a quiet, wooded setting with lakefront access. The campground features basic amenities designed for self-sufficient campers. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit, and vault toilets are available. A boat ramp provides direct access to Kentucky Lake, making this an ideal spot for boating and fishing enthusiasts. The campground also includes a day-use picnic area. No potable water, electrical hookups, or other utilities are provided, so campers must bring their own water and be prepared for primitive camping conditions. Smith Bay Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with self-service payment. The nightly fee is $10 per site, payable by cash or check at the fee tube. Campers should be aware that portions of Smith Bay are subject to seasonal wildlife refuge closures from November 1 through March 15 annually, during which access to certain areas may be restricted.
