About

Sugar Bay Campground sits on the shore of Kentucky Lake within the 170,000-acre Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, managed by the USDA Forest Service. This small primitive campground caters to boaters and anglers seeking simple, affordable lakeside camping with direct water access via an on-site boat ramp. As a self-service campground, Sugar Bay operates on a first-come, first-served basis year-round. Each site includes a designated pad, picnic table, grill, and fire ring. Vault toilets and trash service are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Payment is handled through the honor system using fee envelopes deposited in the iron ranger at the campground entrance. The campground follows standard Land Between the Lakes regulations including quiet hours from 11pm to 6am, a 21-night maximum stay per 30-day period, and leashed pets only. Senior and Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on the nightly fee.
