Tamarask Campground is positioned at the northern end of Boysen Reservoir within Boysen State Park, adjacent to the marina and boat launching facilities near the park headquarters. The campground serves as an ideal base for water enthusiasts exploring the 20-mile-long reservoir, which offers exceptional fishing for various trout species, boating, and swimming opportunities. The campground provides primitive camping without hookups, but includes essential amenities such as vault toilets and drinking water. A dump station is conveniently located at the nearby park headquarters. The setting offers proximity to the Wind River Canyon, where the river flows north out of the canyon into the reservoir. The area features interesting geological formations and opportunities to observe bighorn sheep near the dam. Boysen State Park encompasses 15,145 acres of land surrounding the reservoir, with 76 miles of shoreline. The park's history dates back to the original dam built by Asmus Boysen in 1908, with the current 216-foot-tall dam completed in 1951. Visitors can explore multiple campgrounds throughout the park, trails, picnic areas, and the unique Wind River Canyon where the Ashley Fur Party first passed through in 1825.

Tamarask Campground is located within Boysen State Park, near the north end of Boysen Reservoir. From Riverton, Wyoming, head north on US-26 E for approximately 20 miles. Turn right onto Brannon Road and follow signs to the campground.
