About

Tamarask Campground sits within Boysen State Park, encompassing over 15,000 acres of land surrounding a reservoir with 76 miles of shoreline. Named after Asmus Boysen, who built the original dam in 1908, the current dam was completed in 1951 and the park was established in 1956. The campground offers flat, open sites with sparse vegetation and direct access to the reservoir's fishing opportunities, which include walleye, sauger, perch, trout, bass, and catfish. The campground features a playground area and is located near the park's marina and convenience store, which operates May through October. Pit toilets are distributed throughout the park, with 32 facilities available year-round. A dump station at park headquarters serves RV campers during the April to October season. Sites do not have utility hookups but each includes a fire ring with grill and picnic table. Boysen State Park is located on the Wind River Indian Reservation and experiences high runoff conditions during spring due to Wind River Range snowpack, which can affect water levels and bank flooding at certain times of year.
