About

Located on beautiful Skiatook Lake in northeast Oklahoma, Tall Chief Cove is one of the region's most popular campgrounds. The facility offers 50 individual campsites with 50-amp electric and water hookups along the forested lakeshore, with sites accommodating RVs and trailers up to 70 feet. Gentle rolling hills of blackjack and post oak trees intersperse with tall grass prairie around the glistening lake, with steep picturesque bluffs offering views of the water. Families enjoy the convenience of the large sandy swim beach, picnic areas, nature trail, playground, and educational programs at the amphitheater. Additional recreation includes a professional-style volleyball court, basketball court, disc golf course, and horseshoe pits, with equipment available for checkout at the gatehouse. The campground provides restrooms with flush toilets and showers in the A and B loops, with vault toilets available near the beach area. Skiatook Lake offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, black and white crappie, channel catfish, and several sunfish species. About 6,000 acres of public land in the lake area are open to hunters pursuing whitetail deer, quail, rabbit, and squirrel.
