Birch Cove Campground sits on the shores of Birch Lake, a 1,137-acre reservoir cradled in the rolling, forested hills of eastern Osage County. Operated by the Army Corps of Engineers, this scenic campground offers 89 campsites with water and 30-amp electric hookups, most positioned waterfront or within a short walk of the lake. The forested sites provide a mix of sun and shade beneath post oak, blackjack oak, hickory, hackberry, and elm trees. The campground features a swimming beach, fishing dock, boat ramp, playground, and dump station. Two group shelters are available for larger gatherings. Birch Lake is popular for fishing, with abundant largemouth bass, walleye, spotted bass, smallmouth bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. The surrounding forests and tallgrass prairie also offer hunting opportunities for quail, dove, squirrel, rabbit, and whitetail deer. A campground attendant is available Thursday through Monday from noon to 10 p.m. Gates close nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. All sites share water connections, so bringing extra hose is recommended. Glass containers, alcohol, and pets are prohibited at the swimming beach.

Directions

From Tulsa, take Highway 75 north to Highway 20 west. At the first light in Skiatook, turn right (north) on Highway 11 toward Barnsdall for 19 miles. Turn left on West Chestnut Avenue, then left on South Eighth Street at the T intersection. Travel 3 miles and the Birch Cove entrance will be on the right.
