About
Located south of US 412 approximately 20 miles west of Tulsa, Appalachia Bay Recreation Area offers camping, boating, fishing, and off-road vehicle recreation on Keystone Lake. The campground features 24 reservable RV sites equipped with 30 and 50 amp electrical hookups, water service, picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. A restroom and shower facility, drinking water, and dump station serve the camping area. The park includes a boat ramp with parking, courtesy dock, and fishing dock providing access to Keystone Lake's nearly 26,000 surface acres and 330 miles of shoreline. The lake is noted for its striped, sand, black and smallmouth bass, crappie, and catfish. A distinctive feature of Appalachia Bay is its 400-acre off-road vehicle park, locally known as Motorcycle Island, which accommodates ORVs 64 inches wide or smaller. Within the campground, ORVs must stay on designated trails at idle speed. The lake's shoreline is covered with bottomland timber, post oak, and blackjack oak interspersed with prairie fields, providing habitat for deer, squirrel, rabbit, quail, dove, and waterfowl. Due to the ORV area, visitors should expect noise from ATVs, side-by-sides, and dirt bikes. The campground enforces quiet hours from 10 PM to 6 AM, with the entrance gate locked during these hours.
