About
McFadden Cove is a small Army Corps of Engineers campground situated along the banks of Kaw Lake in north central Oklahoma. The campground offers 15 campsites, all equipped with electric and individual water hookups, making it suitable for both RV and tent camping. Each site can accommodate one tent and one RV or two tents. A vault toilet serves the campground, and a boat ramp is located nearby for easy lake access.
Kaw Lake covers 17,000 surface acres with 168 miles of shoreline and is known for producing some of Oklahoma's largest catfish, as well as excellent populations of crappie, white bass, and walleye. The area offers outstanding hunting opportunities for whitetail deer, turkey, quail, rabbit, and squirrel, with fall waterfowl seasons attracting large numbers of migrating ducks and geese. During winter, the lake hosts one of Oklahoma's largest populations of migrating bald eagles.
The campground is located near the Kaw Lake dam and Hideaway Marina, providing convenient access to several recreational day use areas. The surrounding area features numerous historical sites, including Native American settlements, archeological sites, and the Pioneer Woman Museum in nearby Ponca City.
