NW at 10-15 mph; with gusts as high as 25 mph. * Relative Humidity... Falling below 25% by early afternoon. * Temperatures... 30s to 40s. * Impacts... With elevated winds and low relative humidities, extremely dangerous fire weather conditions are possible.
About
Sweetwater Campground is situated on the scenic banks of Allatoona Lake in the green rolling hills of north Georgia, just 50 miles from Atlanta. This U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campground offers more than 150 spacious reservable campsites, including both standard electric sites and tent-only nonelectric sites. Lakefront sites are available, giving visitors sweeping views across the vast lake. Allatoona Lake draws nearly 7 million visitors annually for picnicking, swimming, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, and wildlife observation along 270 miles of shoreline. The lake is regularly restocked with bass, crappie, bream, gar, and catfish, making it a prime destination for anglers. The campground provides direct access to a fishing dock and swimming beach, along with fire rings, picnic areas, drinking water, flush toilets, and showers. Nearby attractions include Red Top Mountain State Park with 15 miles of trails, eight marinas offering boat rentals and dining, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield, and cultural sites in Cartersville such as the Tellus Science Museum, Etowah Indian Mounds, and Booth Western Art Museum.
Directions
From I-75 take exit 290 and head east on Highway 20 toward Canton/Rome. After approximately 12 miles turn right onto Fields Chapel Road and follow for 2 miles into the campground. From I-575 take exit 16. Follow Highway 20 west toward Cartersville, after 5 miles turn left on Fields Chapel Road and follow for 2 miles into the campground.
