About

Upper Stamp Creek Campground is located on Allatoona Lake, a Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Etowah River in the rolling hills of northern Georgia. The campground features 30 campsites with water and electric hookups situated along the lakeshore, providing a peaceful escape just 45 miles from Atlanta. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Allatoona Lake attracts nearly 7 million visitors annually and is one of the most frequently visited Corps of Engineers lakes in the nation. The lake's 270 miles of shoreline offer exceptional opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, and wildlife observation. The lake is regularly restocked with bass, crappie, bream, gar, and catfish. A fishing dock is available at the campground, and fishing jetties are located at various points around the lake. The campground provides flush restrooms, hot showers, a beach area, and a boat ramp. Nearby attractions include Red Top Mountain State Park with over 15 miles of trails, the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, Etowah Indian Mounds, and Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield. The Allatoona Lake Visitor Center overlooks the dam and features exhibits about the area's history from Native American times through the Civil War to the present day.
