Galt's Ferry Day Use Area
Open daily 8 AM to 9 PM. This is a day-use area only; no overnight camping is permitted. The covered shelter can be reserved through Recreation.gov. Pets and alcohol are prohibited.
About
Galt's Ferry Day Use Area provides waterfront recreation on Allatoona Lake, located about 35 miles north of Atlanta. The facility features a roped-off swimming beach with a maximum depth of six feet, a playground behind the beach, and a raised fishing jetty. Boaters can launch from the three-lane boat ramp with pull-through parking in a separate lot. The park includes individual picnic tables with family-sized grills and a large covered shelter that accommodates up to 100 people and 30 vehicles. The shelter includes a horseshoe pit, and horseshoes can be borrowed from park staff. Restrooms are located within 50 yards of the shelter. This is strictly a day-use facility; overnight camping is not permitted. Pets and alcohol are prohibited. Glass bottles are not allowed on the beach. The park is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation areas on Allatoona Lake.
Directions
From I-75 northbound: Take exit 277 (GA Hwy 92), turn right onto GA Hwy 92, travel 1 mile to Hunt Road, turn left. Continue straight at 4-way stop onto Kellogg Creek Road for approximately 1 mile, turn left onto Galt's Ferry Landing Road. Continue 0.8 mile to 3rd stop sign, turn left onto Rocky Lane to park entrance. Physical address: 7299 Rocky Lane, Acworth, GA 30102.
