AQAFFC The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division has issued a Code Orange (Unhealthy for sensitive groups) Air Quality Alert for Atlanta for Thursday July 2. Under Code Orange conditions, the outdoor air quality is likely to be unhealthy for some people. Children, people who are sensitive to ozone, and people with heart or lung disease should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest. About
Galt's Ferry Day Use Area provides waterfront recreation on Allatoona Lake, located about 35 miles north of Atlanta. The facility features a roped-off swimming beach with a maximum depth of six feet, a playground behind the beach, and a raised fishing jetty. Boaters can launch from the three-lane boat ramp with pull-through parking in a separate lot. The park includes individual picnic tables with family-sized grills and a large covered shelter that accommodates up to 100 people and 30 vehicles. The shelter includes a horseshoe pit, and horseshoes can be borrowed from park staff. Restrooms are located within 50 yards of the shelter. This is strictly a day-use facility; overnight camping is not permitted. Pets and alcohol are prohibited. Glass bottles are not allowed on the beach. The park is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation areas on Allatoona Lake.

From I-75 northbound: Take exit 277 (GA Hwy 92), turn right onto GA Hwy 92, travel 1 mile to Hunt Road, turn left. Continue straight at 4-way stop onto Kellogg Creek Road for approximately 1 mile, turn left onto Galt's Ferry Landing Road.
