About
Red Top Mountain State Park occupies a forested peninsula on 12,000-acre Lake Allatoona in northwest Georgia, roughly 35 minutes north of Atlanta. The campground features 92 sites spread through wooded terrain, each equipped with water and electric hookups (30/50 amp), a picnic table, and a fire ring or grille. Hot showers and flush restrooms are located in comfort stations throughout the campground, and an RV dump station is available on site. The park offers extensive recreational opportunities centered around the lake. A sandy swimming beach, two boat ramps, and nearby marina access support water activities including fishing, swimming, and water skiing. Over 15 miles of hiking trails wind through the peninsula's hardwood and pine forests, with options ranging from easy lakeside strolls to more challenging terrain. Additional facilities include a yurt sleeping up to six people, a Pioneer Campground for group tent camping with pit toilets, and 20 cottages for those seeking more amenities. The park is open year-round with reservations available up to 14 months in advance. Check-in is after 1 PM and checkout is at 1 PM, with a maximum of six people per campsite.
