AQAFFC The Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division has issued a Code Orange (Unhealthy for sensitive groups) Air Quality Alert for Atlanta for Thursday July 2. Under Code Orange conditions, the outdoor air quality is likely to be unhealthy for some people. Children, people who are sensitive to ozone, and people with heart or lung disease should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest. About
Cooper Branch #2 Day Use Area is situated on Allatoona Lake along the Etowah River, a tributary of the Coosa River. The facility offers a reservable group shelter designed for day gatherings, picnics, and family events. The shelter accommodates up to 50 people with a maximum of 20 vehicles. The shelter includes six picnic tables, electrical outlets, and an adjacent covered grill area. A horseshoe pit is located 25 feet from the shelter, though visitors must provide their own horseshoes. A restroom facility is available approximately 75 yards from the shelter. The surrounding Allatoona Lake provides opportunities for water sports, boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The 270 miles of shoreline and rolling hills covered with oak, maple, dogwood, and pine create a scenic backdrop for day activities. This is strictly a day use facility with no overnight camping permitted.
Directions
From I-75 take Exit 290 (GA Hwy 20 / Canton / Rome). Northbound traffic: right off exit onto GA Hwy 20. Southbound traffic: left off exit onto GA Hwy 20.
