Payne Campground is located on the shores of Allatoona Lake, one of the most visited Corps of Engineers lakes in the nation with nearly 7 million annual visitors. The campground provides 57 reservable campsites conveniently situated near a swimming beach and fishing dock. Sites include a mix of tent-only sites without electric hookups and RV sites with electric service. Allatoona Lake offers 270 miles of shoreline for picnicking, swimming, camping, hunting, fishing, boating and wildlife observation. The lake is annually stocked with bass, crappie, bream, gar and catfish, making it a popular destination for anglers. Fishing jetties are available at numerous locations around the lake. Located only 35 miles from Atlanta on the Etowah River, the lake provides a peaceful retreat from urban life in the green rolling hills of Georgia.
