About
Swasey's Beach Campground occupies a scenic stretch of the Green River corridor about 10 miles north of Green River City via Hastings Road. Managed by the BLM Price Field Office, the campground offers 12 sites—nine standard and three group sites—all operated on a first-come, first-served basis. Large cottonwoods shade the beach and many campsites, providing relief from summer heat.
The recreation site sits beside Swasey's Rapid at the takeout for river runners completing the Green River Daily and Desolation-Gray Canyon floats. Thousands of visitors float this Wild and Scenic River segment annually. Day users enjoy the sandy beach for picnicking, fishing, and swimming during warm months. BLM rangers patrol the area, but there are no lifeguards.
Facilities include vault toilets, picnic tables, metal fire rings, and camping pads. No potable water, hookups, or showers are available. Hastings Road is paved to the nearby boat ramp; the short section to the campground is gravel and well-maintained. The canyon setting features steep walls, riparian habitat, and views of Desolation Canyon Wilderness across the river.
