Susquehanna State Park, located along the Susquehanna River in Havre de Grace, Maryland, offers a diverse range of recreational activities amidst a rich historical backdrop. The park encompasses over 2,700 acres of dense forests, rocky terrains, and riverfront landscapes, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground features 69 sites, six of which are equipped with electric hookups, and six mini-cabins available for rent. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground operates from the first weekend in May through the last weekend in October. Comfort stations with hot showers are available in each loop, and a camp store provides essentials like firewood and ice. Outdoor activities abound, with over 15 miles of trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The Susquehanna River offers excellent fishing opportunities, with species such as pike, perch, and bass. Boating enthusiasts can access the river via the Lapidum Boat Ramp. The park also features the Rock Run Historic Area, which includes a working gristmill, the Carter-Archer Mansion, and remnants of the Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal. For picnicking, the Deer Creek Picnic Area provides shaded tables, grills, two picnic shelters, and a modern restroom. Large open fields nearby are ideal for family games. The pavilions are available for rent from March through October and are perfect for gatherings like family reunions or company picnics.

Directions

From I-95, take Exit 89 for MD-155 toward Havre de Grace. Head north on MD-155 for approximately 2.8 miles, then turn right onto MD-161. Continue for 1.5 miles, then turn right onto Wilkinson Road. The park entrance is about 0.8 miles ahead.
