About

Samuel S. Lewis State Park occupies 85 acres of ridgetop terrain dominated by Mt. Pisgah, an 885-foot-high ridge separating Kreutz Creek Valley and East Prospect Valley. The park's elevated position offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Susquehanna River as it winds through southcentral Pennsylvania. The landscape is diverse, consisting of open mowed grass fields on the northern and eastern slopes, a pine plantation in the southern section, and mature deciduous woods in the western area. The park is particularly popular with kite flying enthusiasts who take advantage of the hilltop winds and open fields. Hiking trails wind through the various terrain types, and picnic facilities are available throughout the park. A reservable group pavilion accommodates larger gatherings. This is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping options. The park provides a peaceful natural retreat with outstanding scenic vistas despite being just 12 miles east of York.
