About

Lums Pond State Park sits on 1,790 acres surrounding Delaware's largest freshwater pond, a 200-acre body of water on the north side of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The recently renovated campground features 68 spacious sites with full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections, earning recognition as the best RV park in Delaware. Four additional primitive equestrian campsites without hookups accommodate horseback riders near the riding trails. The park offers diverse recreational opportunities including 17 miles of hiking and biking trails winding through hardwood forests of varying ages, from mature to young growth. Water enthusiasts can rent rowboats, kayaks, paddleboats, and canoes to explore the pond, which provides excellent fishing for largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, catfish, crappie, pickerel, and carp. The park also features a disc golf course, sports fields for football, cricket, soccer, baseball, and softball, courts for basketball, volleyball, and tennis, horseshoe pits, an off-leash dog park, and the Whale Wallow Nature Center with live animal exhibits including a 500-gallon freshwater aquarium. Campground amenities include a camp store with basic supplies, laundry facilities, newly remodeled bathrooms, and pavilions available for rent. The park is accessible year-round, making it ideal for camping in spring, summer, fall, or winter. Swimming is not permitted in Lums Pond as the state does not provide lifeguards.
