Elk Neck State Park Campground sits on a 2,370-acre peninsula formed by the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Elk River to the east in Cecil County, Maryland. The landscape features marshlands, heavily wooded areas, white clay cliffs, and sandy shorelines that provide exceptional opportunities for hiking, swimming, fishing, and paddling. The Elk River Camping Area offers over 250 campsites distributed across multiple loops with varying amenities. North East Loop provides 28 full hookup sites with 50/30/20-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. Chester Loop has 19 electric-only sites. The remaining loops offer primitive tent camping without hookups. Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring featuring a grill and a picnic table. Central bathhouses with hot showers serve each loop. Nine mini and camper cabins offer basic overnight shelter with heat, AC, a fan, lights, and electrical outlets, though they lack running water. A seasonal park store operates on weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day, offering firewood and ice via an honor box system when closed. North East Loop remains open year-round, while other loops operate seasonally from April through October.
