Sunlight Bay Campground is located on the shores of Nimrod Lake, positioned along Wilson Slough off the Fourche LaFave River. The campground is cradled between Arkansas' Ouachita and Ozark Mountains, offering 29 spacious electric campsites and one large group picnic shelter. Nimrod Dam was completed in 1942 for flood control, and the 21,000 acres of surrounding land have become a popular recreational destination. Fishing is one of the most popular activities at Nimrod Lake, with abundant populations of catfish, bluegill, bass, and crappie. The campground features two boat ramps for easy lake access and a fish cleaning station for anglers. Boating, water skiing, and tubing are also popular activities, though skiing and tubing are only permitted from the tip of Carden Point eastward toward the dam. The campground includes a playground and modern facilities for family camping. Wildlife is abundant in the area, with opportunities to spot white-tailed deer, eastern wild turkey, bobwhite quail, squirrel, rabbit, fox, mink, black bear, dove, and waterfowl. Seasonal hunting is permitted throughout the lake except in or near recreation areas. The campground is conveniently located near State Highway 7, a National Scenic Byway, and is within reach of Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, and Hot Springs National Park.
