About
Sunlight Bay Campground sits on the shores of Nimrod Lake, a 3,550-acre Army Corps of Engineers impoundment nestled between Arkansas' Ouachita and Ozark Mountains. The Fourche LaFave River feeds the lake, which was created in 1942 for flood control but has since become a recreation destination. The campground occupies a cove along Wilson Slough with direct lake access. The 29 campsites feature paved back-in driveways, 50-amp electric hookups, and water service. A centrally located restroom and shower building serves the campground, and an RV dump station is available. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. Two boat ramps provide lake access, and a playground offers family recreation. A day-use group shelter accommodating up to 50 people is also available for reservation. Nimrod Lake offers excellent fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and bluegill. Water skiing and tubing are permitted east of Carden Point. Wildlife viewing opportunities include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and occasional black bear sightings. The campground sits near Arkansas Highway 7, a National Scenic Byway, with Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, and Hot Springs National Park all within driving distance.
