About

Carden Point Day Use Park is located on the shores of Nimrod Lake and Dam, nestled between Arkansas' Ouachita and Ozark Mountains. The park features a large group picnic shelter equipped with drinking water, grills and tables, making it ideal for large parties or family functions. Additional amenities include a playground, horseshoe pit and swimming beach. Nimrod Lake offers excellent fishing opportunities with an abundance of catfish, bluegill, bass and crappie. Boating, water skiing and tubing are popular activities, though skiing and tubing are only permitted from the tip of Carden Point eastward toward the dam. The lake has 11 boat ramps conveniently located around its shores. The area is rich with wildlife including white-tailed deer, eastern wild turkey, bobwhite quail, squirrel, rabbit, fox, mink, black bear, dove and waterfowl. Nimrod Dam was completed in 1942 for flood control and water resource development on the Fourche LaFave River. The lake and surrounding 21,000 acres have become a recreational destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Nimrod Lake is conveniently located adjacent to State Highway 7, a National Scenic Byway, and near Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park and Hot Springs National Park.
