About

Carter Cove Campground is a well-maintained US Army Corps of Engineers facility on Nimrod Lake, Arkansas' first Corps lake completed in 1942 on the Fourche La Fave River. The campground sits between the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains near Plainview and offers 34 modern campsites with 30-amp electric hookups, paved back-in driveways, fire rings, and picnic tables. Sites accommodate RVs up to 42-45 feet. Facilities include flush restrooms with hot showers, a dump station, fish cleaning station, swimming beach, boat ramp, and playground. Nimrod Lake is popular for fishing with abundant catfish, bluegill, bass, and crappie. Water skiing and tubing are permitted from Carden Point eastward toward the dam. Wildlife viewing opportunities include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and black bear. The campground is conveniently located adjacent to Arkansas Highway 7, a National Scenic Byway, with nearby attractions including Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, and Hot Springs National Park.
