About
River Road Campground is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility on the Fourche LaFave River arm of Nimrod Lake, nestled between the Ouachita and Ozark Mountains of central Arkansas. The 21 campsites are shaded by a dense canopy of mature oak and hickory trees, providing a quiet, wooded atmosphere. Sites range from standard 30-amp electric to 50-amp and multi-family configurations, with many offering water hookups. The campground includes a boat ramp providing direct access to Nimrod Lake. Fishing is the primary draw, with abundant crappie, largemouth bass, catfish, and bream in the lake. Water skiing and tubing are permitted from Carden Point eastward toward the dam. Wildlife viewing opportunities include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, black bear, and various waterfowl. Seasonal hunting is allowed in the surrounding 21,000-acre forested area. Nimrod Lake lies adjacent to Arkansas Highway 7, a designated National Scenic Byway, with Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, and Hot Springs National Park within reasonable driving distance.
Directions
