Lewis And Clark State Park

Open

The entire park is closed until further notice for hazard tree removal due to dead and dying cottonwood trees. No reopening date has been announced. When normally operating, the campground is open April through October and requires reservations.

About

Lewis and Clark State Park is situated on the shore of Blue Lake, a historic oxbow formed when the Missouri River changed course. The 176-acre park commemorates the Lewis and Clark expedition, which camped in the area in August 1804. The campground offers both electric and full hookup sites along the lakeshore. Facilities include modern restrooms with flush toilets and showers, a dump station, and a recently upgraded playground. All campsites are reservable through the Iowa state parks reservation system, with no first-come-first-served availability. The park also offers day-use amenities including a beach, boat ramp, picnic shelters, and hiking trails. Fishing for bluegill, bass, and catfish is popular. The campground typically operates from April through October, with the park remaining accessible for day use year-round when not under closure.
