About

Danish Alps State Recreation Area encompasses 520 acres of parkland surrounding the scenic 219-acre Kramper Lake, named for early Danish settlers in Dakota County. The campground features 67 electrical campsites including Jones Creek RV Campground with standard sites, plus a dedicated equestrian campground with 26 gravel pads with electrical hookups and three ADA-accessible cement pads. An additional 22 basic camping sites accommodate those seeking a more primitive experience, and boat-in or backpack-only sites are available for adventurous campers. The no-wake lake was designed with fishing in mind, offering excellent shoreline and boat fishing access. Two boat ramps provide easy lake access for paddlers and anglers. Miles of trails wind through the area, welcoming hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians to explore the diverse terrain. The equestrian facilities include amenities for both horses and riders. Roads are maintained throughout winter for ice fishing access. The campground operates year-round with both reservable and first-come, first-served sites. Half of the electrical sites can be reserved through the Nebraska state park system, while remaining sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis with payment via Iron Ranger self-registration.
