About

Summit Lake Campground is a small, rustic retreat nestled on the banks of serene Summit Lake in Oregon's Mount Hood National Forest. The campground offers a mix of walk-in and drive-in sites, though the 16-foot maximum vehicle length makes it best suited for tent campers and small trailers. Activities include fishing and swimming in the shallow lake, as well as access to nearby trails for hiking and mountain biking. This is a primitive campground with vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own water supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Non-motorized boating is permitted on the lake, making it a peaceful spot for paddling. The campground typically opens in late May and closes in early September, with exact opening dates dependent on snow conditions. Day use is also available for visitors who want to enjoy the lake and surrounding forest without staying overnight.
