About

Summit Creek Campground is a decommissioned site in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Lewis County, Washington. Once a small, informal camping area nestled in the trees above Summit Creek, it provided access to Soda Springs and the William O. Douglas Wilderness. The campground was suitable for tents and pickup campers but could not accommodate trailers due to its informal nature and location. The Forest Service has officially decommissioned this site, meaning it is no longer maintained or operated as an active campground. While the area may still be referenced as a trailhead or starting point for wilderness access, campers should not expect any facilities or services. The decommissioning reflects the Forest Service's management decisions to consolidate resources at other developed campgrounds in the area.
