About

Soda Springs Campground is a small, rustic Forest Service campground located at the end of Forest Road 4510.052 within Gifford Pinchot National Forest. The seven campsites are nestled in a stand of Douglas fir, western hemlock, and silver fir, offering moderate screening and a quiet atmosphere with minimal traffic. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground has one old-style double vault toilet but no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The Cowlitz Trail #44 trailhead is located within the campground, providing direct access to the adjacent William O. Douglas Wilderness. A free, self-issued wilderness permit is required to enter the wilderness. Nearby attractions include a historic soda spring that was once the site of a bottling facility. Horses are prohibited in the campground itself; equestrians should use the nearby Soda Spring Horse Trailhead. The access road is a moderately steep single lane with occasional pullouts. Larger trailers are not recommended; the campground is best suited for tent camping, pickup campers, or smaller trailers.
