About
Beaver Creek Campground is a free, primitive camping area nestled in an old-growth forest stand along the Spotted Bear River in the remote backcountry of Flathead National Forest. The four campsites sit less than 100 feet from the river, making it an ideal base for fishing in summer or hunting in late fall. The campground sees moderate use but typically has availability mid-week. The campground offers basic amenities: each site has a table and metal fire ring, and there is an accessible vault toilet. There is no potable water; river water must be treated before consumption. Pack-it-in, pack-it-out rules apply as there is no garbage service. A food storage order is in effect requiring all food, garbage, and attractants be secured from bears. Stock users frequent Beaver Creek as a staging area when the Silvertip Trailhead is seasonally closed. Facilities include a stock unloading ramp, hitchrails, and feed bunks. Weed Seed Free Feed is required on all national forest lands. This is an extremely remote location with no cell phone service; the nearest phone, gas, and supplies are 63 miles north in Hungry Horse.
Directions
From Hungry Horse, drive east on Highway 2 for 0.5 miles to East Side Reservoir Road #38. Turn right (south) onto Road #38, passing through Martin City. After 2 miles the pavement ends; continue on the gravel road for 54 miles to Spotted Bear River Road #568. Turn left (east) onto Road #568 and drive 9 miles. Beaver Creek Campground is on the right (south) side of the road.
