Stuart Group Campground is part of the Stuart Recreation Area, nestled in the mountains of West Virginia along the Shavers Fork River in Monongahela National Forest. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the recreation area is located approximately 6 miles northeast of Elkins at the junction of WV Route 6 and Forest Road 91 (Stuart Memorial Drive). The group campground site accommodates up to 40 people and allows up to 10 vehicles, making it suitable for larger parties. The site features a gravel driveway and accepts tents, trailers, and RVs. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, and electrical hookups. Pets are permitted on leash. The Shavers Fork River provides excellent fishing opportunities and is regularly stocked with trout. The location offers access to hiking, mountain biking, and swimming. The campground is part of a larger day-use area that features picnic pavilions, tables, and grills. The area is situated near the Otter Creek Wilderness, providing access to backcountry recreation.

Directions

From Elkins, take US Route 33 east for approximately 4 miles. Turn north on WV 33/8 (old US Route 33) and follow signs. Turn north on WV Route 6 and drive 0.5 miles to the entrance.
