About
Stuart Group Campground is part of the larger Stuart Recreation Area in the Monongahela National Forest, nestled in the mountains of West Virginia along the Shavers Fork River. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, this historic site offers a single reservable group camping area that can accommodate up to 40 people with a maximum of 10 vehicles. The gravel driveway accommodates tents, trailers, and RVs. The recreation area features flush toilets, accessible showers, drinking water, and an RV dump station. The Shavers Fork River is regularly stocked with trout, making this an excellent destination for anglers. The River Loop Trail (#119) provides a 2-mile hiking opportunity through the mixed forest surrounding the campground. Three picnic pavilions are also available for day-use rental nearby, ranging from 25 to 100 person capacity. The maximum length of stay is 14 days, and leashed pets are welcome throughout the campground.
