About
Lower Glady Dispersed Camping Area is a primitive, free camping destination within the Monongahela National Forest in eastern West Virginia. The camping area stretches approximately 2 miles along Forest Road 162, following the Glady Fork of the Cheat River. Sites are scattered along the gravel forest road, offering a mix of open and secluded spots suitable for tent camping or small RVs. The area serves as a gateway to backcountry recreation, with the eastern trailhead of Mylius Trail providing access to the Otter Creek Wilderness and connections to the Allegheny Trail. The Glady Fork is stocked with trout, making this a popular destination for anglers. Swimming holes along the river add to the appeal during warmer months. As dispersed camping on national forest land, facilities are minimal. A pit toilet is available in the camping area and individual sites have fire pits. Campers must bring all water and supplies and pack out all trash. The forest road is not maintained during winter, limiting access when snow accumulates. Camping is limited to 14 days within any 28-day period.
