For the Winter Storm Watch, from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute. Additional travel impacts possible on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Westerly wind gusts of 45 to 60 mph are likely to result in significant blowing and drifting snow.

Wind chills as low as 10 to 15 below zero early Tuesday morning. * WHERE...Northwest Pocahontas and Southeast Randolph Counties. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Blowing snow could abruptly reduce visibility at times into Tuesday.

Bear Heaven Campground is a small primitive campground located approximately 14 miles northeast of Elkins, West Virginia, on Forest Road 91 (Stuart Drive) near the Otter Creek Wilderness. The campground features 8 sites nestled along rock outcroppings that offer unique and scenic landscapes. The remote location on a gravel mountain road provides solitude and a rustic camping experience. Stream fishing opportunities are available nearby, and the campground provides access to excellent hiking. Middle Point Trail #140, which is 3.7 miles in length, is located along Forest Road 91 west of the campground. The adjacent Otter Creek Wilderness offers several trails and more challenging backcountry experiences. A rock maze near the campground is worth exploring during your stay.
Directions
From Elkins go east on State Highway 33 for approximately 11 miles, turn left on Forest Road 91 at the top of Shaver's Mountain. Follow Forest Road 91 for approximately 3 miles. Bear Heaven Campground will be on the left.
