Stirrup Campground
The campground typically operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day on a first-come, first-served basis. Water systems are only operational during summer months. M10 Road to Letts Lake has an active construction zone near Fouts Springs with periodic delays or closures depending on work progress.

Temporary road closure on 16N21 Road
Forest Road 16N21 on Pitney Ridge in the Upper Lake Ranger District is temporarily closed for resource protection and to eliminate traffic incursions onto a contingency dozer line, which intersects with the road in multiple locations. Please see Exhibit A for a map of the road closure.
Logging traffic on Forest Highway 7
Forest Service contractors will be loading log decks from the Plaskett Keller Project and hauling them east on FH7 to the valley. Be prepared for traffic delays. Stay alert for logging crews near or on roads. And follow traffic signs along the haul route.
About
Stirrup Campground is part of the larger Letts Lake Campground complex in Mendocino National Forest, located 19 miles west of Stonyford. This small loop offers 5 campsites (numbered 28-32) equipped with fire rings and picnic tables. The campground sits alongside a 35-acre mountain lake that provides excellent opportunities for trout fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating. The main attraction is the lake itself, which features a fully accessible fishing pier and a one-mile shoreline trail. Vault toilets serve the area, and potable water is available during the summer operating season (typically Memorial Day through Labor Day). Access roads and sites can accommodate camping trailers up to 30 feet. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations. Campers pay on-site via QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app. The setting is quiet and relatively undeveloped, with OHV riding prohibited in the campground area.

Located 19 miles west of Stonyford via M10 Road. Access is from the west side of Mendocino National Forest.
