About
Dixie Glade Campground is a small, rustic campground located 14 miles west of Stonyford in the Mendocino National Forest. At an elevation of 3,700 feet, this 7-site campground specializes in equestrian camping with corrals and hitching posts for packstock animals. The campground serves as a trailhead to the Snow Mountain Wilderness, with a short 0.8-mile trail connecting to the Deafy Glade Trail system. The campground is situated amidst chaparral vegetation with ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, and oak trees. Each site includes a picnic table and grill. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on site. The area has been impacted by recent wildfires, particularly the 2020 August Complex fires, and visitors should be aware of downed trees, dropped limbs, and unstable terrain. Dixie Glade operates as a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations. During the main season from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the cost is $5 per night, while off-season camping is free. The campground now accepts payment via the Scan & Pay system. OHV riding is not permitted within the campground boundaries, though the Fouts Springs OHV area is nearby.
