About
Saddle Camp Loop Campground is part of the larger Letts Lake recreation area in Mendocino National Forest, located 19 miles west of Stonyford. This loop offers 9 individual campsites numbered 19 through 27, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground sits among mixed mature conifers and manzanita, with some sites offering lake views. The main attraction is the 35-acre Letts Lake, restricted to non-motorized vessels for a peaceful paddling experience. The lake is stocked with trout and offers excellent fishing opportunities, including from a popular fully-accessible fishing pier. Swimming is permitted, and a scenic one-mile trail follows the lake shore, providing access to different areas of the lake and connecting the various campground loops. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water during the operating season, and accessible facilities. OHV riding is not permitted within the campground, and sites are limited to two vehicles maximum. The remote location offers a quiet mountain setting perfect for anglers, paddlers, and campers seeking solitude.
