About

Old Mill Campground offers a rustic camping experience in the Mendocino National Forest, nestled within a mature forest of mixed pine and fir trees at an elevation of approximately 4,000 feet. The campground is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. It is particularly popular with off-highway vehicle enthusiasts who use it as a staging area for exploring the network of OHV trails in the Stonyford Recreation Area. Facilities are basic but functional, with vault toilets available on site. The campground has fire rings and picnic tables for camper use. Potable water is not available at the campground, so visitors must bring their own supply. A stream with a spring pipe can be found 2.6 miles east on the road, but this water should be treated before drinking. Access is via Road M-5 from Stonyford, approximately 10 miles west of town. The access road through Trough Ridge is narrow, making it unsuitable for large RVs or trailers longer than 24 feet. Little Stony Road access is also not recommended for trailers. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Directions

Located 10 miles west of Stonyford on Road M-5. From Stonyford, take Fouts Springs Road west, then follow signs to Road M-5. The main access road up Trough Ridge is narrow. Access via Trough Ridge or Little Stony Road is not recommended for trailers.
