About

Cedar Camp Campground was a small, rustic camping area situated in the Mendocino National Forest, surrounded by mature fir and pine timber. Located approximately 19 miles southwest of Stonyford via Goat Mountain Road, the campground served OHV enthusiasts and backcountry campers seeking a remote forest experience. The campground sustained significant damage from the 2018 Ranch Fire and 2020 August Complex fires, which burned large portions of the Mendocino National Forest. Combined with road access issues from slides on M5 Road, the Forest Service determined the site posed safety hazards to visitors. The campground has been closed to public use and is scheduled for decommissioning. Prior to closure, Cedar Camp offered primitive camping with vault toilets but no potable water. The access road via Trough Ridge or Little Stony Road was not recommended for trailers, making it best suited for high-clearance vehicles and OHV camping.
