About
Main Letts Campground is part of the larger Letts Lake Recreation Area in Mendocino National Forest, situated around a scenic 35-acre lake at elevation. This loop contains 18 campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground is one of four separate loops (Main Letts, Saddle Camp, Spillway, and Stirrup) that together provide 42 total sites around the lake. The lake is restricted to non-motorized vessels only, making it ideal for quiet paddling, fishing, and swimming. Trout fishing is popular here, and the campground features a fully accessible fishing pier. A one-mile trail follows the shoreline, providing scenic views and easy hiking access. Vault toilets are available, and potable water is provided during the main season from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m., check-out at 11:00 a.m., and quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. OHV riding is not permitted in the campground itself, though the area is near Fouts Springs OHV area. Two vehicles maximum are allowed per site. Payment can be made on-site via cash, check, or the Scan & Pay mobile app feature.
