About
William C. Sterling State Park is Michigan's only state park on Lake Erie, located just minutes from the Ohio border and about an hour from Detroit. The park protects over 1,300 acres including Great Lakes marsh and restored lake plain prairie habitat, with seven miles of biking and hiking trails winding through the preserve. The modern campground offers 256 paved sites, most of which are generous in size with views of Lake Erie. All sites have 20- or 30-amp electrical service, with 50-amp service available at 76 sites. The campground includes modern restrooms with private shower rooms, a sanitation station near the park entrance, and fresh water. Beach access, playground facilities, and kayak rentals (Memorial Day through Labor Day) are available. Vista Recreation operates the campground facilities as a DNR partner. The park is renowned for its shore fishing lagoons offering access to walleye and perch fisheries, a popular boat launch, and picnic areas with shelters. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry.
