East Harbor State Park Campground sits on the shores of Lake Erie, eight miles northwest of Sandusky, Ohio, and serves as the largest campground in the Ohio State Park system. With 573 total sites, the campground offers diverse camping options including 354 electric sites, 51 full hookup sites, and 168 non-electric sites. Ten primitive group camping sites accommodate up to 50 campers each, and Sherman Cabins provide basic shelter for those without tents or RVs. The campground operates year-round with seasonal variations. During the off-peak season from November through March, electric sites B1 through B64 remain open with access to the dump station and water at the check-in office. Full operations resume in spring, with the camp store operating April through October offering camping supplies, firewood, ice cream, and bike rentals. Registered campers enjoy free WiFi access throughout the campground. East Harbor's location provides exceptional Lake Erie recreation. The park features a family-friendly 1,500-foot sandy beach within walking or biking distance from campsites, boat ramps for registered campers (open to the public November-March), a marina, and a fish cleaning building. Nature enthusiasts appreciate the scenic wetlands teeming with waterfowl and shorebirds. Additional amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoe pits, playground equipment, and 11 miles of trails. Pets are welcome throughout the campground.
