About

Catawba Island State Park is a compact 10-acre day-use park located on Lake Erie, six miles northeast of Port Clinton. Despite its small size, the park serves as the main headquarters for Ohio's Lake Erie island parks system, which includes Kelleys Island, South Bass Island, Middle Bass Island, and Oak Point State Parks. The park features four boat launch ramps that provide excellent access to Lake Erie, making it a popular departure point for boaters and anglers. A charming cobblestone beach offers opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and swimming at your own risk. The fishing pier attracts anglers year-round, with spring and summer being peak seasons for walleye and yellow perch. During winter months, the park provides access for ice skating and ice fishing. Amenities include a stone picnic shelter, multiple picnic areas with tables, flush toilets, and ample parking for vehicles with boat trailers. The park's scenic location offers beautiful views of Lake Erie and is ideal for photography and birdwatching. No overnight camping, showers, or potable water are available. The park is pet-friendly and open daily from 6 am to 11 pm.
