Middle Bass Island State Park, one of Ohio's newer state parks, is located in the western basin of Lake Erie and offers a unique island camping experience. The primitive campground features 10 non-electric tent sites situated near the marina on the southwest portion of the island. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. A pit-style latrine is available at the campground, while showers, flush toilets, and potable water are accessible at the Marina Harbormaster building. The island is a boater's paradise with a 190-slip marina, though the campground strictly prohibits recreational vehicles. Campers must bring their own drinking water to the campsite area. The park is only accessible by ferry, adding to its secluded island character. Pets are welcome but must remain on leash and cannot be left unattended. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance through Reserve Ohio (reserveohio.com) or by calling the reservation center. No walk-in or self-registration camping is available.

Directions

Middle Bass Island is only accessible by ferry. The Miller Ferry operates seasonally from Catawba Island (near Port Clinton, Ohio) to Middle Bass Island. The Jet Express also provides service from downtown Port Clinton and Sandusky. The campground is located near the marina on the southwest portion of the island.
