About

Willow Campground is a quiet, primitive campground nestled at 6,600 feet elevation along the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway (Forest Road 73) in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The byway traverses the length of the Pioneer Mountain Range, where granite peaks reach over 10,000 feet to the east. The campground sits among the broad willow bottoms that give it its name, surrounded by mountain meadows and lodgepole pine forests. The campground has 5 sites with a maximum recommended trailer length of 20 feet. Facilities include an ADA-accessible vault toilet, potable water from a hand pump, and picnic tables at each site. There is no garbage service, so campers must pack out all trash. The area offers interpretive sites along the byway that explain the natural history and mining heritage of the Pioneer Mountains.

Directions

From the intersection of Montana Highway 43 and the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway (Forest Road 73), proceed south on Road 73 for approximately 14 miles to the campground.
