About
Mono Creek Campground sits at 7,000 feet elevation in a densely forested 2-acre setting within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The campground offers 5 designated sites in a quiet, secluded atmosphere with Mono Creek flowing just across the road. Each site includes a picnic table, and the campground provides vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump. The campground is located about one mile off the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway (Forest Road 73), approximately 23 miles south of Wise River. It serves as an ideal staging point for visiting the nearby historic Coolidge Mining Site, a well-preserved ghost town from Montana's mining era. The surrounding area offers opportunities for stream fishing, horseback riding, and hiking on nearby trails. This is a first-come, first-served campground with a 16-day maximum stay limit. The small site count and 18-foot vehicle length recommendation make it best suited for tent camping and smaller rigs. Campers should be prepared to pack out all trash.
Directions
