Boulder Creek Campground sits at 6,400 feet elevation in the heavily wooded Pioneer Mountains, approximately 13 miles south of Wise River along the Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway (Forest Service Road 73). This well-maintained campground offers 13 campsites with paved roads and paved trailer pads, making it accessible for a variety of camping setups. Three of the sites are pull-through configurations that accommodate trailers and RVs. The campground provides essential amenities including fire rings, picnic tables, and bear boxes at each site for food storage in bear country. Two ADA accessible vault toilets serve the campground, and a hand pump typically provides potable water during the operating season. Campers should be prepared to pack out all trash as garbage services are not provided. The scenic Wise River flows along the western border of the campground, offering convenient access for fishing enthusiasts. This location serves as an excellent base camp for exploring the Pioneer Mountains and enjoying outdoor recreation including hiking, wildlife viewing, and fishing. The high elevation and forested setting provide a cool mountain retreat during summer months.
