* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of western Maryland, including the following county, Garrett. * WHEN...Until 800 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 526 AM EDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in Ememrgency management reports an ongoing water resuce in the vicinity of the Casselman River and Bittinger Road. Several homes have also been reported to have flooded basements between Grantsville and Bittinger. due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring. About
St. Johns Rock Campground sits within Savage River State Forest in Garrett County, providing a base camp for off-road vehicle enthusiasts exploring over 12 miles of professionally designed woodland trails. The trail system includes family-friendly loops, technical single-track sections for motorcycles, ATV trail spurs, and a rock crawl area for four-wheel drive vehicles. The campground offers eight primitive sites: four large group sites (40x40 ft camping pads accommodating up to 5 trailered vehicles) and four smaller individual sites (20x20 ft pads for 1 trailered and 1 non-trailered vehicle). Each site includes a tent pad, picnic table, and fire ring. The only facility is a vault toilet. Campers must bring their own water as none is available on site. Reservations are made through the Maryland Park Service online system at parkreservations.maryland.gov. Check-in is 3:00 p.m. and check-out is 1:00 p.m., with quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. A maximum of four consecutive nights can be reserved per booking.
