About
St. Johns Rock Campground sits within Savage River State Forest in Garrett County, providing a base camp for off-road vehicle enthusiasts exploring over 12 miles of professionally designed woodland trails. The trail system includes family-friendly loops, technical single-track sections for motorcycles, ATV trail spurs, and a rock crawl area for four-wheel drive vehicles. The campground offers eight primitive sites: four large group sites (40x40 ft camping pads accommodating up to 5 trailered vehicles) and four smaller individual sites (20x20 ft pads for 1 trailered and 1 non-trailered vehicle). Each site includes a tent pad, picnic table, and fire ring. The only facility is a vault toilet. Campers must bring their own water as none is available on site. Reservations are made through the Maryland Park Service online system at parkreservations.maryland.gov. Check-in is 3:00 p.m. and check-out is 1:00 p.m., with quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. A maximum of four consecutive nights can be reserved per booking.
