Hawn State Park Shelters

Open

This is a day-use picnic shelter, not an overnight camping facility. The shelter is open and available for reservation at $50/day, or free on a first-come, first-served basis when unreserved. No electricity is available at the shelter.

About

The Hawn State Park Shelter is a large open-air day-use facility situated in the pine-covered picnic area of this 4,956-acre Ozark park. The 44' x 22' structure accommodates up to 100 people and features 10 picnic tables, outdoor barbecue grills, vault toilet access, and drinking water. The shelter sits within 100 feet of both the park playground and trail access, making it convenient for families combining a group event with outdoor recreation. Hawn State Park itself offers exceptional natural scenery with its signature combination of lofty pines, sandy-bottom streams like Pickle Creek, and dramatic sandstone canyons and cliffs. The park features one of Missouri's best backpacking trail systems, the nearly 10-mile Whispering Pine Trail. While the shelter is a day-use facility, the park does offer separate overnight camping options including basic sites, electric sites, walk-in tent sites, and designated backcountry campsites along the trail system. The shelter and surrounding picnic area are fully ADA accessible with paved pathways connecting to accessible parking and vault toilets. Reservations can be made 30 days to 12 months in advance through the Missouri State Parks online reservation system, or by contacting the park directly for dates within 30 days.

Directions
