St. Croix State Park Group Camp offers three historic group center complexes built by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1937 and 1939, providing unique overnight accommodations for large groups in Minnesota's largest state park. The facilities are arranged in villages of primitive cabins clustered around central amenities. Norway Point Group Center features lodge buildings, a craft shop, central bathrooms, a commercial kitchen, mess hall, and infirmary, plus a private swimming beach on Lake Clayton with a historic CCC-built spillway. Head of the Rapids Group Center, the most remote facility, offers similar arrangements with villages of rustic cabins around a central dining hall, craft shop, infirmary, and private recreation area including a ballfield, sand volleyball, and swimming. Each group center provides fully equipped industrial kitchens with refrigerators, ovens, stoves, dishwashers, and all necessary cookware and utensils. Historic dining halls retain original CCC furniture and stone fireplaces. Each village has its own restroom and shower building along with lodge facilities. The group centers provide extensive recreational opportunities within the 34,000-acre park, including access to the St. Croix and Kettle Rivers for canoeing and fishing, over 100 miles of hiking trails, and 75 miles of horseback riding trails. Groups enjoy private recreation areas with ballfields, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, and swimming beaches. The historic setting and rustic log-and-stone architecture create an authentic wilderness retreat ideal for youth camps, reunions, and large gatherings.

Directions

From Hinckley, Minnesota, drive east on Highway 48 for approximately 15 miles. Turn south onto County Road 22 and continue for about 5 miles to reach the park entrance.
