The Equestrian Campground at Saint Croix State Park is designed specifically for horseback riders who want to explore Minnesota's largest state park. With 40 campsites featuring hitching rails, tie lines, and access to a communal corral, the campground provides everything needed for camping with horses. Located at the All Seasons Trail Center, campers have immediate access to 75 miles of horseback riding trails that wind through the park's 34,000 acres. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill, and many sites offer optional electric hookups. The modern shelter building features restrooms with showers and two indoor fireplaces for relaxation after a day on the trails. Manure bins are provided for waste disposal. The campground is situated in a convenient location that serves as a hub for both summer equestrian use and winter snowmobile activities. Riders over age 16 are required to have a Minnesota Horse Pass to use DNR-managed horse trails. The park's equestrian trails connect to the extensive trail system throughout Saint Croix State Park, offering varied terrain and scenic views. One horse trailer or tent is permitted per campsite, with a maximum of six people per site.

Directions

From Hinckley, take State Highway 48 east for 23 miles to Pine County 173. Turn left (north) and continue for 5 miles to Tamarack Forest Road. Follow the forest road approximately 3 miles; then turn left (south) and proceed 2 miles to the campground.
